To protect yourself from getting scammed when buying auto insurance

  1. Be careful when responding to auto insurance ads, especially if they contain minimal information.
  2. Check FSCO’s website to ensure an insurance company or agent is listed.
  3. Do not pay someone a fee to arrange auto insurance for you.
  4. Avoid paying your premium in cash. Transaction records are proof of payment.
  5. Make premium payments directly to your insurance company or registered insurance broker.
