Electronic Filing Options for All Prescribed Filings for Pension Plans

NOTE: Effective January 1, 2013, electronic filing will become the only method available to submit prescribed filings that have a due date on or after January 1, 2013.

The Financial Services Commission of Ontario’s (FSCO) Pension Services Portal (PSP) has been operating successfully since March 31, 2010.  FSCO has received very positive feedback from the pension industry and would like to encourage all Pension Plan Administrators to take advantage of electronic filing through the PSP.

About the PSP

The PSP enables Pension Plan Administrators and/or delegated third parties/agents the option to electronically file all prescribed filings:

There are several benefits of electronically filing prescribed filings.  The PSP:

  • allows Pension Plan Administrators and/or designated third parties/agents to complete, submit and verify the status of electronic filings online;
  • ensures that data and personal information is kept secure and protected;
  • performs a preliminary verification of any data that is submitted to FSCO;
  • provides alerts and warnings if it detects any errors in submissions; and
  • supports FSCO’s commitment to provide environmentally friendly and cost effective services.

How to Sign Up for the PSP

To file electronically, Pension Plan Administrators and/or their delegated third parties/agents must activate their unique PSP accounts.  To learn about this process, refer to the Instructions for Activating Your Pension Services Portal Account.

How to Learn About PSP Updates

Once a PSP account has been activated, FSCO will notify the Pension Plan Administrator of any PSP updates by e-mail.

The Pension Plan Administrator and/or its delegate(s) should also check the PSP regularly for new developments.
